Portfolio

Please view a selection of my work below. Collaborative work (either on a fulltime or freelance basis) with other agencies has been noted. I have included screenshots where possible to indicate the kind of projects I've been working on. There is often a mixture of design or coding or both...I've tried to make this as clear as possible - but if you have any questions, please let me know.
Please feel free to contact me, or send an email: mattslavin@gmail.com.

Virgin Media - Mix It Up TV | Start Creative |

This website was built to go along with the Virgin Media TV campaign. I was asked to build a few of the pages, using valid XHTML and to AA compliant accessibility standards. The HTML pages provide a different version of the page if Flash isn't enabled in the user's browser.

Head and Shoulders | Six and Co |

This was a product selector for Head and Shoulders France. The bottles switch and move back and forth as the mouse rolls over. It was built using Object Oriented AS2, with separate classes for the bottles, using the tweener class for the animation.

Orange

Orange Virtual Village | Six and Co |

Orange Virtual Village shows how communication may take place between different sets of machines. The microsite was done entirely in Flash, and I made amends and updates to the site that had already been built by a different agency. This meant I had to rework the code in certain areas, work out how it had been built in the first place and then add to it. Additional design elements were also added, alongside additional navigation areas and document printouts.

Pantene

Pantene | Six and Co |

Work for Pantene included email campaigns, html builds and flash elements that needed to be updated or reworked. Work was also done across all of the European Pantene websites - which included France, Germany and Greece for content updates and development. In particular, I have shown screenshots of the Pantene Greece Model of the year microsite, which I was responsible for building. This had a PHP backend and selection of models all displayed dynamically.

Alfa Romeo 147 Collezione | 6 And Co Agency |

I built the Alfa microsite, as accessible as possible but still rigidly adhering to the designs. It validates as HTML strict and also incorporates javascript and flash elements. The flash video was filmed offsite, alongside the model who was also layered on top of the existing flash. The flash on the homepage triggers the navigation bar at the top of the page. It was also hosted on .Net server, and some of the functionality was written in C#.

Olay | 6 And Co Agency |

The Olay site needed updating with Flash elements and a new section to the Olay products range. I added the flash and html elements, and also bugfixed on the Olay products homepage. I also redeveloped the html version of the products homepage, and added the extra ribbons section.

Vauxhall VXR

Vauxhall | BMB Agency |

I was brought in as a contractor for BMB to work on the frontend code for the Vauxhall VXR testdrive site. The site provides information about the VXR range of cars. I was responsible for the HTMl and CSS - it works cross browser, and is also accessible in a text only version. The backend information was stored in a MySql database, using Pear and PHP. This was developed by a colleague at BMB. This gave me an introduction to Pear, and its functionality. I implemented the accordions within the site - developed using MooTools, a javascript toolbox, that reduces development time, and provides a solid foundation to work on.

St Gobain

St Gobain / B-Live | BMB Agency |

St Gobain needed a character that could be used to get across their identity to young people within the Bedfordshire region. It was designed using Illustrator, and ultimately was to be used as an animation in Flash. The character fulfilled a number of design brief outlines - primarily to appeal to a younger, casual audience, with a laid back demeanor and cool branding.

The Sons

The Sons

The Sons are a Derby based band, and I was asked to design their website to portfolio their gig dates, provide information about the band, and allow band followers to get in touch with the group. The overall design was based on their album cover. I designed around this idea further to create the stars and rocket that light up the front page. It was supposed to be a bit cheeky, and offer something a little different. The site uses flash, is wholly CSS based and some Javascript. Band members are responsible for site updates and content.

ZoomOnMe.com

This site was designed for the Los Angeles photographer Shaun Alexander and is used to profile artwork and build business. There are three main sections - the main content managed area of the site, the gallery and the flash enabled area. It relies on clean interface design - which was intentionally minimalist, to ensure audience focus was on the imagery of the photographer.

Once a choice has been made, the user is directed to the appropriate part of the site - youth or adult - and is able to switch to the other area if required. The site was built around the iconography Mobeous CMS, which also contains a forum and gallery.
